How we check fit

Athels answers one question: will this attachment fit my rack? We don’t sell anything and we don’t write reviews. We collect each maker’s published measurements and compare them with one fixed rule.

The measurements

For every rack we record the upright size (2×2, 2×3, 3×3), the hole diameter, the hole spacing, and whether the spacing is metric or imperial. For every attachment we record which uprights it is made for, its pin diameter and how it mounts. Every number links to where we found it and the date we checked. When sources disagree, we say so on the page.

The rule

  • An attachment that wraps or bolts through the upright needs the right upright size.
  • The pin must fit the hole. A pin up to 1/8" smaller still seats (5/8" pins in 11/16" holes); a 5/8" pin in a 1" hole is too loose to count.
  • Two-pin attachments need the rack’s hole spacing, and metric and imperial spacing drift apart by about 1/16" per hole.

The labels

Confirmed
The maker sells it for this rack, or someone has fitted it and told us.
Fits per specs
The published numbers match. Nobody has confirmed it on a real rack yet.
Check first
The numbers nearly match, but something (usually metric against imperial spacing) could stop it fitting.
Needs adapter
It fits with an adapter, which we name.
Doesn't fit
The numbers rule it out, or someone tried it and it didn’t.

Tubing made overseas is sometimes a little under its nominal size (a “3×3” at about 2.95"), which we can’t see in published specs. If you’ve fitted something and it didn’t match our label, we want to hear about it.

How we make money

Some merchant links pay us a commission if you buy. That never changes which attachments we list, in what order, or what label they get. We don’t show prices because they change faster than we can check them.
